Taught by Idaho artist Julie Kennedy who is a grapic designer.  In this class you will create a 'Love Bug' by learning how to sculpt the faces from polymer clay, bake them, and paint them. You will create a body using sticks, yarn, beads, fur, etc.  Your finished bug can be made into a pin, magnet, or used to decorate a card or box. The class should take about two and a half hours and cost is $25.00.  Class size is limited and will be scheduled on request.

Julie is an accomplished artist and has been published in Art Doll Quarterly.  We are very fortunate  to have her on our teaching staff

ARTIST STATEMENT - JULIE KENNEDY

"I have loved creating and designing from the moment I could hold a crayon, which I promptly used on my bedroom wall... I'm a graphic designer at my day job and a doll designer in my "real life". Mixed media and found objects are my favorite mediums to work in. I also can't resist experimenting with new art supplies and techniques. Anyway, this winter I was cleaning out my art room closet and came across my stash of old cigar boxes. So I stopped cleaning the closet and started decoupaging  the boxes...long story short, somehow I ended up creating "Love Bugs" so I could give the boxes away on Valentines day. They were a hit and alot of fun to create."

"Each bug's face is hand sculpted and painted, so no two are alike.  In my class we will sculpt the faces from polymer clay, bake them, and paint them using acrylic paints. We will create a body using sticks, yarn, beads, fur, etc. Your finished bug can be made into a pin, magnet, or used to decorate a card or box."
